WHAT ARE THE BASICS?
 
fynn studio is a 120 square meter natural light photographic studio located in parktown north.

it features one full opaque plexiglass wall, which creates the most beautiful diffused light.

it is not soundproof.


it was founded by the
robyn davie creative studio brand.
 

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

 

the space comes with the following:

 - make-up station

- clothing rail

- changing room/bathroom

- kitchen island, counter, microwave, fridge

- desk and two office chairs

- malawian bench and chair

- a variety of plants, and small decor pieces

- wooden bench, macrame hanging

- bluetooth speaker

- wooden trestle table

- plastic trestle table 

CAN I POP IN TO VIEW THE SPACE BEFORE MY BOOKING?

we have a very busy booking schedule, so it's tricky to organise viewings.

however we've gone above and beyond to make it easy for you to get a feel of the space before your session.

WHAT'S THE PARKING 

SITUATION?

 

we have three inside parking bays, and there is plenty of street parking as well.

chat to us for more information, or if you'd like to organise a security guard for a full day shoot.

WHAT'S THE LIGHT LIKE AT ALL TIMES OF THE DAY?

 

beautiful!

(no, but really!)

 

here's a little behind-the-scenes walk-through of all different times of day.

WHERE IS THE STUDIO?

our space is located in parktown north, joburg.

the address and all check in information will be sent to you via email once your booking is confirmed.

CAN WE USE THE GARDEN SPACE?

 

you can absolutely make use of the garden space directly outside of our studio.

please be cognisant of our neighbours, and keep noise levels down.

ARE THERE PLUG POINTS?

 

yup!

there's a heap of plug points around the space, so you can easily plug in lights and gear throughout the studio.

ARE THERE PLATES?

 

our kitchen is currently stocked with the following:

4 dinner plates

4 bowls

4 side plates

8 mugs

6 glasses

cutlery for 6 people

 

HOW DO WE BOOK?

 

we handle all of our bookings in one spot - via email.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT DATES ARE AVAILABLE?

 

we have our full calendar available for you online to have a peek at, as so to make your booking process as easy as possible!

here it is.

WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?

 

we charge one set of rates for weekdays, and one for weekends.

weekends are a bit pricier, as the office park is quieter, and there's more access to parking bays.

here are our rates.

HOW DO YOUR OFFICE
HOURS WORK?
 
our admin team 
works mon-fri 9am-4pm.

your booking must be
finalised during
these hours.

 

HOW DOES OVERTIME WORK?

pre-arranged overtime:

weekdays R650/hour,

weekends R750/hour

overtime on the day

(if there isn't another booking after yours),

is charged at R700/30 minutes.

HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?

 

we require payment in full to secure your booking.

bookings are accepted on a first payment received basis, so the sooner you pay, the sooner we can send through confirmation.

your payment includes a 50% non-refundable booking fee.

CANCELLATIONS

 

cancellations five days before the booking will receive a 50% refund.

cancellations under five days before the booking will receive no refund on payment.

RESCHEDULING

 

we need a 72 hour notice

in order to reschedule a studio booking.

bookings rescheduled under

72 hours will be forfeited.

WHAT IF MY BOOKING FINISHES EARLY AND WE DON'T USE ALL OUR BOOKED TIME?

 

we do not offer refunds or credit for unused time.

your booking means we have turned down other potential bookings for that time period, so we are not able to give refunds.

 

LATE ARRIVALS

 

if you or your clients are late, this cuts into your booked time.

you will still be required to leave the premises at the end of your booked time.

TEA & COFFEE

 

we have snapscan facilities

all set up, should you like to purchase coffees, waters or teas during your booking.

BUFFER BETWEEN

BOOKINGS

 

we have a thirty minute

buffer between each booking, in order to sanitise the space in accordance with covid-protocols.

CAN WE ARRIVE EARLY
TO SET UP?

your booking time INCLUDES
your setting up and packing up time.

(INCLUDING hair, make-up and any other prep needed)


be sure to arrive on time, and leave as soon as your hour is up, as so not to impact on the bookings before and after you.

 

WHO IS OUR CONTACT ON

THE DAY?

 

our fab studio assistant

will be there to check you in, show you to your parkings and help out with making coffee.

she is all kinds of magic,

and we ask that you treat her as such.

WHAT ABOUT CATERING?

 

you are welcome to bring your own catering for your booking, or order uber-eats during the course of the day.

we have a big trestle table available to set up your food on.

 

CAN WE SHOOT VIDEO?
 
our studio space is primarily a PHOTOGRAPHIC STUDIO, because we're part of a
multi-use office park, and the space is in no way soundproof (it features plexiglass walls/doors).

we have however successfully hosted a few different video shoots.
 

CAN WE RECORD SOUND?

please do note the studio is a big space, with high ceilings, and lots of reflective surfaces.

it also has plexiglass walls/doors.


we recommend the use of directional mics or lapel mics, and popping in for a sound test during one of our open viewings.

 

CAN WE SHOOT A MUSIC VIDEO?

we do not under any circumstances allow for the shooting of music videos.

 

DO YOU ALLOW EVENTS?

 

absolutely!

please send us all the details of your event, and we'll let you know if we can accommodate you.

we are abiding by covid-protocols, and following the restrictions outlined by government.

WHAT TIMES?

 

we only host functions on weekends (Saturday & Sunday).

 

our business hours

are 9am-5pm,

we do charge overtime from 7am-9am, and from 5pm-8pm.

 

8pm is the latest end time for an event (including pack-up).

CAN WE DO A

WORKSHOP THERE?

 

absolutely!

we love having creative workshops pop up in our space.

please send us the details of your workshop, and let's chat.

CAN WE SET UP FOR FREE?

 

nope :)

 

your booked time MUST include the time necessary for set-up and pack-up.

 

please consult with your event/decor team on

just how much time they will need for this.

HOW MANY GUESTS?

 

we have a maximum guest capacity of 40 people.

 

 and we charge extra for events over 15 people.

DO YOU HAVE TABLES?

please see above list (at top of page) for what furniture is included in your booking.

 

all additional tables, chairs, stages, decor, bars, catering tables, florals etc

will need to be brought in.

CAN WE BRING PETS?

 

as much as we love furry creatures, we do not allow them in the studio.

LIGHTS, GEAR & 

BACKDROPS

 

we've partnered up with the fab team at sunshine co,

as so to be able to organise you gear for your shoot.

please chat to us.

you are welcome to bring your own gear along as well.

STYLING ADD-ONS
 
we have recently added an
optional add-on
section of the following:

3 x arched wooden backdrops
1 x styling trolley of props
6 x styling boards

these items are available for use during your booking for a small additional fee, which you can pay via snapscan or cash on the day.

 

IS THERE A BED?
 
yes!

we have recently added an inflatable bed to the studio.

please let us know ahead of time should you like to use it, so the team can put it on to inflate before you arrive (it's big and needs about 20 minutes to inflate).

this bed is part of our styling add-ons, and is available for your session for a small additional fee.

 

EXTRA DECOR/PROPS

 

we have partnered up with the amazing team at skat.

chat to us about the options, and we'll put you in touch with them to organise floral designs and rental of other decor and props.
