Three signs your brand looks unprofessional

In today’s age of social media and Google, information is fast and readily accessible - but the downside of this is that it's easy for small brands to come across as unprofessional.

Are you wondering why your brand isn’t attracting more clients, or why your sales may be low when you know there is a market for your product? It might be because your brand looks unpolished next to your competitors.

Here are a few ways to tell if your brand seems unprofessional to potential clients, and how to fix it.

1. You don’t have a logo

Back in the day, getting a logo designed was like digging for gold - it took time, patience, and no small amount of money. Nowadays, with the boom of freelancers and small design agencies, creating the perfect logo for you business has never been easier.

With all of these resources available at your fingertips, not having a logo could be detrimental to you business. It will be the first thing a potential client sees, and the thing that gives them the strongest initial impression of your business. A well-designed logo is like a firm hand shake - it says, "You can trust us!"

2. You don’t have a social media presence

Sure, you have an instagram account and occasionally post to Facebook - but if you aren't actively updating it and engaging with your audience, then your business isn’t really present on social media.

Having 3 posts from 2016 won’t cut it. We're living in the age of instant gratification - people want to be able to interact with you. They want to engage with your page, get to know you, and see what your brand is all about.

“Social media offers many benefits to business owners, as it allows them to reach out to their customers and to gain the attention of more people/potential customers,” says writer Harsh Agrawal of Shout Me Loud.

3. You don’t have a website

The only way you can possibly get away with not having a website is if your social media pages are on point - they're constantly updated, have an active following, and are generating their own communities and discussions about your products and services.

But, if socials aren't really your thing, then a website is imperative to creating and growing consistent interest in your brand. A website helps with customer trust and loyalty, and provides an easy and convenient place for people to learn all they need to know about you and what you do. If you’re any kind of business owner, and don’t have a website, most likely a consumer will find your competitor first. People trust a company with a website.

“Marketing company BrightLocal conducted surveyed consumer attitudes. In the study, they found out that 36% of clients trust a company more if they see a website, whereas, only 21% gamble on closing a deal with a business with no website. "In today’s time where everything from groceries to money transfers is done online, A business website establishes your legitimacy as a business. People will trust your products based on your website," says the team at Solution Resource.
